5 Tricks & Tips For Women With Fine Hair

Women with fine hair are faced with many challenges to keep their hair shiny, healthy, and full of volume. I am no exception.

For years, I would rack my brain with creative ways to make my hair thicker and stronger. And it took me a long time to finally accept that my thin and baby fine hair was here to stay. After many years and tips from my stylist, I finally know how to style, treat, and care for my fine hair.

Here are five tips for women (like me) with fine hair use so they can boost volume, improve shine, and master hairstyles:

Use quality shampoo and conditioner.

Your hair washing habits and products will make or break your hair – literally. I can’t stress the importance of using the right shampoo and conditioner! I’ve recently started using AG Hair’s Thikk Wash Volumizing Shampoo, which is incredible. I pair it with AG Hair’s Hair Sleek Conditioner. Both of these products help transforms kinky hair into a sleek and smooth finished style.

Boost up your roots!

I am addicted to AG Hair’s Volumizing Hair Foam. This weightless foam pumps up my skinny strands, which gives my baby fine hair a thicker appearance. Work a few pumps through damp strands before blow drying, and you’ll kick-start the morning with extra volume and styling control.

Go to bed with a with a loose braid or ponytail.

Often, women with fine hair will try to avoid blow drying their hair. To help with this effort, they will wash their hair the night before and go to sleep with wet hair. Going to bed with wet hair is a huge no-no because your hair will likely be tangled together in the morning. By sleeping with a loose braid or ponytail, you’ll keep your dry (or damp) hair in place overnight without waking up to a morning mess of tangles!

Treat tangles with a leave-in conditioner.

AG Hair’s Fast Food Leave-On Conditioner is a great product that instantly detangles, conditions, and protects fragile hair – what more could a women with fine hair ask for!? Using a leave-in will make combing and brushing your hair much easier, resulting in less damage.

Give your hair a break with dry shampoo.

Skipping wash days will help give your hair time to unleash natural oils, which strengthen your hair and improve shine. At first, it might seem hard to skip wash days, but as you get used to it, you (and your hair) will be thankful for the break. If you workout, you’ll also love taking dry shampoo with you to the gym. I always stash some AG Hair Fast Forward Dry Shampoo in my gym bag for post-workout hair care.

Most of all, don’t fret. Fine hair is prone to damage already, and overworking or over-styling your hair because you’re desperate for volume will only result in dry, broken strands. Find a volume-boosting routine that works for you, and stick to it!
