Best types of fringe
Kris moves effortlessly from gentle layers, shaggy texture through a full fringe and trendy asymmetrical side-swept bangs.
While Kris loves to wear a fringe, some types of fringe suit her thick hair and face shape better than others. For example, we weren’t very enthusiastic about her style which had rather a lot of height on the top and a full straight fringe, which tended to minimise her eyes.
Wispy side-swept
A useful guideline for women over 60 is that a wispy side-swept fringe will soften and flatter most face shapes. A heavy fringe can shorten the face too much and hide your eyes.
Oval Face
Kris has an oval face and this means she can switch between choppy layers, short bobs and gamine boy-cuts easily and find they suit her. If you like Kris’ styles but don’t have an oval face, just take a photo of the style you would like to your stylist and ask her to adjust the shape and the fringe to balance out your individual face shape.
Makeup Tips
Kris has beautifully shaped eyes and she has always liked to emphasise them by wearing a black, smoky eyed look. However, most women over 60 will find this look rather harsh and perhaps should embrace a more modern take on this eye makeup style.
Metallic eye-shadows
The current favourite in eye-shadow colours are soft purple-grey or metallic copper smoky eyes. And, of course, after Dior’s wonderful gold-metallic-eyed models in their latest fashion show, all metallic colours – gold, bronze, silver and copper – are tipped to be the most fashionable shades through winter and in spring, too!
Soft beige and taupe
Warmer colours in the beige, browns and purples will probably be your best bet to get a soft look that brings out the colour in your eyes, without closing them up with too much black eye-liner.
So take your inspiration from Kris’ youthful image, but make sure you adjust and update to get a look that is perfect for your individual colouring, taste and style!
